With the Amazon Kindle E-reader, how do you pay for books. And do you have to.

I was recently looking at Amazon.com and saw their new Kindle E-reader. I am thinking about buying one. I would imagine you would have to pay for the books you download but how do you pay for them?

You set up an account with Amazon (if you do not already have one) and when you buy your Kindle, it will automatically be registered to that account. You must set up a 1-click option in order to buy items for your kindle. That simply means that you have a credit card on file and you only have to press one button to place your order. The books you buy (or get free) from Amazon are mostly in .AZW format, which is Amazon’s proprietary DRM (copy protection) format. When you see a book you want, either on your kindle or at Amazon, you just have to click on the buy-with-1-click button and the book will download to your Kindle, right away if you have the whispernet turned on, or when you do get around to turning it on, from your home screen, just pick “check for new items” and anything you have bought that has not been downloaded to your Kindle will then download. You can also find loads of free books for the kindle at places like feedbooks.com and gutenbergpress.com. Books should be in .prc or .mobi format. Many free sites have a “kindle” option so you don’t have to figure it out. Feedbooks will even allow you to use whispernet wireless to download directly to the Kindle as will Mobileread.com.These free books are books that are out of copyright, so they are mostly over 50 years old, but all the classics are there.Occasionally, publishers will have free e-book promotions so you have to watch out for those. Baen.com, a sci-fi publisher has many free books listed. It’s a marketing experiment where they encourage authors to give away the first book in a series to see if it generates sales.I’ve found that the Kindle does what it’s supposed to do very well, which is display books. It does other things less well. For instance, I don’t like shopping for books on my Kindle, or using the web in general. It’s just too cumbersome for my taste. I do most of my Amazon shopping from my computer and download my purchases later.Amazon is not saying when the next version of the Kindle will be released. There’s been some speculation that it would be this year, but Amazon has vehemently denied this. They say sometime next year. Whether the next version will be radically different or better than this version, who can say. My guess is that changes in the hardware will be mostly cosmetic, and that most, if not all firmware and software changes will be available as an update to the present kindles. So, if you really, really want a kindle, you might as well go for it. It’s well worth the money and you’ll probably enjoy it. If you don’t, you can always send it back!

How do you get books published.

How do you get people to read it, pay for it, promote it, and where do you find them? And how do you make it an ebook?

The traditional publishing route is to pitch your book to a literary agent in your genre, who then attempts to pitch it to publishers. Obviously this is a very competitive process. Agents get hundreds of submissions and only a few do they actually decide to accept as projects. The rest are thrown out. If you do make it this far however, the chances of your book getting big are much higher. Many writers are turning to the e-book business. Go to the Amazon.com website and look around to see how you can make your book available online, either as a free download or for a small price of which you will get a cut.

get Kindle ebook on Amazon for free.

A friend of mine told me that he could get any ebook on Amazon for free, and he did get me 3 ebooks already. I asked him how but it seems like he want to keep the trick to himself. So, does anyone know how?

Are those 3 eBooks you have old classics by any chance? If so, he’s yanking your chain. Amazon offers them for free anyway.I have heard there are many Kindle eBooks illegally swapped using BitTorrent, but I haven’t tried it. I don’t mind paying for books, and if I want free books, there’s a perfectly legal public library just a couple of miles away.

How to get free shipping for students on Amazon.

Yes you need to have amazon prime, which is only free for one year for students. After that you can buy it on a yearly basis for half price ($40) as a student.Be aware that you will NOT get free shipping from the amazon marketplace, only on things FROM amazon themselves (read: mostly new books). There are occasions where a marketplace purchase is prime eligible, and you’ll be able to tell because it will say Prime right next to the listing.

how do you get free amazon kindle books.

Taking things without paying when they’re not being given away for free has a special name. It is called stealing, and someone who does it is called a thief.

Free book downloadd…

I have a kindle fire HD, and I want to read or download a book for free but on amazon, you have to pay for it, I was wondering if anyone knew how of a way to get it for free whether it is online or a free download. Any websites would be good but for free

If the book is still protected by copyright then there is no way you are going to get it for free unless you go to your local library.Writers deserve to be paid for their work. Don’t try to steal from them because you don’t want to pay.

  5. I believe you set up an account with amazon and when you want to buy a book, you go online from your kindle and buy the book and they will charge it to your account.

  7. You have tons of legal options. First, any book published before 1923 is in the public domain and can be legally downloaded for free. Manybooks.net and gutenberg.org both have thousands of ebooks that can be downloaded for free and read on the Kindle. Any book published after 1923 is under copyright. This means it’s illegal to download without paying for it unless the publisher or author is giving it away. Given that authors aren’t paid a salary and are only paid a small amount (usually only $2 or so) when a copy of their book is purchased, there is absolutely no moral or ethical justification for stealing from them. If you can afford a Kindle Fire, you can afford to buy books. There are some free and legal books that are under copyright, though. Check the websites of your favorite authors to see if they have any of their books available for free download. And Amazon has tons of freebies from various authors and publishers. http://www.ereaderiq.com/ is one site that tracks free and bargain ebooks at Amazon. You can also try your local library. Most loan ebooks and support Kindles.

  8. I’d read a reserve but I want silence and I watch television for Big Bang theory family man spongebob humor or movies generally put me a good book and I will read it I’m not old a professor or a nerd

  9. You make an ebook using software.

  10. I LOVE my Kindle. To me, it was totally worth the money. I’m a voracious reader, and I was literally running out of room in my house to put books. The Kindle has helped control that problem. While it might not be exactly the same as holding a real book in your hands, it’s not different enough to be any sort of problem. I read SO much, that I just got to the point where I felt like I didn’t need to have every single book I read crowding up my house. (I read approx one novel a week…every week. Sometimes I have more than one book going at a time.) So my everyday average Joe books I’ll get on my Kindle. If I really really love a particular book, like if the book takes on a special meaning for me, THEN I’ll actually go to the store and buy it in book form to keep. That way my home library has all the books that I really love, but now it’s under control because it’s not stuffed with every book that I’ve read in the past few years. There’s no reason you can’t enjoy books in BOTH digital and paper form. It’s not like once you buy an e-book reader, you are then forbidden to read books in any other form. The Kindle is also great for travel. You can bring as many “books” (and magazines and newspapers) as you want, and they take up only the space that your Kindle takes up. If you read newspapers and/or magazines, the Kindle is great for that. You get your newspaper/magazine, and it saves on paper and you have no waste. The Kindle is also great because you can download practically any book instantly from practically anywhere. A good example of when this came in handy for me, was one time when I was stuck at an airport with a delayed flight. I noticed that a person sitting across from me was reading a book that I thought looked really, really interesting. I did a quick research of the book on my Kindle to see if I thought it was something I would like to read, found that it was, and was able to order it right there and then and had it in less than two minutes. The other thing I really love about the Kindle, is books are a lot cheaper to get on the Kindle than if you buy them in the store. You’re not paying for the paper and the printing and the delivery and the store markup. AND, there are tons of books that you can get for free on the Kindle, too. I’ve estimated that with the amount of money I’m saving on books…my Kindle will have paid for itself in less than a year.

  11. I agree with the other answers, you shouldn’t be stealing books.

  12. Come back in five years when you’ve done that.

  13. You just think really hard about getting it published and then all your dreams come true.

  14. I wouldn’t advise buying the kindle right now though. It has a lot of flaws.

  15. Amazon in essence does the same thing as Netflix does. They offer you a number of things free, however make their cash by using charging for “the good things”. Both manner you are going to need to pay to watch it. The object to really watch out for is shopping films from Amazon (a true scam). You quite don’t possess it. You can’t put it on a DVD or something. It’s going to invariably be saved on their web page where you could simplest watch it through your account. Promote the roku and lose all of the films you paid for. Ahem cough bootleg cough

  16. Writing books is an author’s JOB. It’s how they make money to live on. You wouldn’t work for free so you shouldn’t expect authors to. If you want to read a book then pay for it, don’t steal it.

  17. http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00DXNYVA6Signup at a site like http://kicksgpt.com or http://prizelive.com and you can get amazon gift cards for doing really easy surveys!Getting books published is easy; you publish ebooks through Smashwords and Amazon’s Kindle Direct Publishing, and you publish a physical book through Createspace. Here are the top ones: http://www.amazon.com/Best-Sellers-Kindl

  19. Publishing books is a complicated profession, just like making music. Just because you write a song and put it on YouTube doesn’t mean it’ll be a hit, even if it’s a really good song. You have to ensure that the right audience gets it at the right time.If you go to either site, visit the forums to see lots of payment proofs!

  20. Una buena cantidad y calidad de dispositivos Kindle en Amazon, http://amzn.to/1GkMRnm aquí hay detalles.

  21. Wow, an author wanting to be paid for their work? What is the world coming to?

  22. Try “Dead Man’s Alibi” – A murder mystery at amazon/Kindle

  23. There are also sites where you can borrow ebooks from others.

  26. I think so

  27. I’m waiting the the second or third generation one.

  28. If you’re looking for certain books, I can’t help you because it’s illegal, but there are many books on Amazon that are free. You start by writing something that’s worth paying for.I would recommend reading a lot of blog posts about the subject. Writers love to write, and there are tons of blogs out there about the journey of published writers. http://www.writersdigest.com is a good starting point, though I would recommend avoiding paying for any of their services. Just use them as a tool to get started.
